TeamTO Studio and Martian Blueberry have unveiled the proof of concept for Junichiro Jackson (JJ), a psychological thriller blending manga influences, hip-hop, near-future sci-fi, neo-noir, and the supernatural.First presented at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the pilot is now available online at a key moment: a Kickstarter campaign has been launched to fund a manga based on the project.

According to TeamTO Studio, the goal is to establish the franchise, without waiting for the series itself to come to fruition. Which, as the studio puts it on Kickstarter, is a “veryy long road.” The idea is, of course, to build a dedicated fan community around the IP. From the team’s perspective, it is also clear that launching a brand-new original property is much more difficult when pitching to investors and broadcasters than a project that already has an established fanbase, measurable engagement, and some degree of recognition. In other words, Junichiro Jackson (JJ) adopts the strategy typically used for anime adaptations of existing manga, but in this case, the original work is being created specifically to support the future animated series.

Be sure to visit the Kickstarter campaign for more information. The reward tier that includes a copy of the manga costs $45, with additional merchandise included in the rewards. Higher pledge tiers even offer the opportunity to have a character designed in your likeness, include a product placement, or meet the creative team in person.TeamTO Studio aims to raise $42,000 through the campaign.

The project’s creative team also includes Havtza as well as Slimane Aniss (whose Baïdir series project we previously featured). Each directed a segment of the proof of concept.

Finally, you can also watch the replay of TeamTO’s Studio Focus presentation from the Annecy 2026 Festival. The second half of the conference (starting at 33:45) is dedicated to Junichiro Jackson (JJ).
